The
growing trend in America has been to handout hard sentences for people
convicted of sex offenses. Colorado is no different.
Some
offense have mandatory prison sentences. Mandatory prison sentences
are generally associated with child sex offenses involving pattern
offenses (more than one act of sexual contact); Mandatory prison
sentences are also found in sex crimes that have force, threats,
physical injury to a victim or weapons used in the commission of the
offense.
Other sex offenses call for what is called indeterminate
sentencing. This means that if you are sentenced to prison, the court
will set a sentence that goes, potentially to life. If you were to be
put on probation, you would be put on probation for up to life. Thus,
the sentence is not determined expect that it is severe.
